Morten Bøås (PhD) is Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. He has conducted research on conflict and politics in Africa and beyond for over two decades. He has conducted fieldwork in a number of regions in conflict, including North Africa and the Sahel. Morten has published a number of articles in international peer-review journals and his most recently published books include, The Politics of Conflict Economies: Miners, Merchants and Warriors in the African Borderland (Routledge, 2015); The Politics of Origin in Africa: Autochthony, Citizenship, Conflict (Zed Books, 2013, with Kevin Dunn); and African Guerrillas: Raging Against the Machine (Lynen Rienner, 2007, co-edited with Kevin Dunn). Morten are also a regular contributor to numerous newspapers and international blogs, and he is the PI of EUNPACK.
